Park Description

    • Campsites: 13 sites total—7 standard tent sites and 6 equestrian sites with tethering poles.

    • Max RV Length: 30 feet

    • Amenities:

      • Vault toilets

      • Picnic tables

      • Fire rings (note: open fires are prohibited during Stage Two Fire Ban)

      • No potable water

      • No electrical or sewage hookups

    • Season: Typically open from June through September

      Phelps Creek Campground is a serene, first-come, first-served campsite nestled in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest near Leavenworth, Washington. Situated at an elevation of 2,750 feet near the confluence of Phelps Creek and the Chiwawa River, it offers a tranquil setting for campers and equestrians alike.

    🔥 Fire Restrictions (as of July 2, 2025)

    A Stage Two Fire Ban is in effect across all USFS campgrounds in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, including Phelps Creek. This ban prohibits campfires and open flame cooking with wood, charcoal, or wood pellets. The exception is that propane gas can be used as long as it has an on/off switch. No smoking is allowed in the open; smoking must be done either in your vehicle or within a building. Fireworks are also prohibited.

    • Horseback Riding: Access to nearby trails, including the Phelps Creek Trail, which offers relatively easy access to the remote Glacier Peak Wilderness, particularly Spider Meadows and Carne Mountain.
