Wow. Decided to head out to Ocracoke Island from Hatteras, fun trip on the ferry. We booked a paid ferry from here to Cedar Island. Spent the day on the island but what was special was the night. Under a full moon we walked the beach shore spotting crabs scurrying in the sand. Water and dump easy to get to and the hum of the breaking waves made it nice. $14/ for our stay with the access pass. Verizon 4G worked great. The virtual tour made this booking awesome too.

Ocracoke Campground is a basic National Park campground with direct access to wide beaches and dunes, making it a strong choice for quiet, beach-focused stays and stargazing beneath very dark night skies. Sites typically include a paved parking spot, picnic table and grill, and the facility offers showers and restrooms. Many visitors praise its value and proximity to town, but expect basic amenities: privacy is limited in open fields, water can taste salty or be cold at times, and occasional cleanliness issues have been reported. Access requires the island ferry, so plan logistics and reserve early.
