What campers say

Moundville Archaeological Park features large, striking Native American earthen mounds and strong river views—the main mound is notably tall. The grounds are pleasant for walking, with signage, brochures, replica structures, a gift shop and a small museum. Museum displays and on-site artifacts are limited and some exhibits are restricted for cultural reasons, so visitors seeking deep archaeological detail may be disappointed. A few mounds have stairs that can be climbed while others are off-limits. Staff are reported as helpful and admission is affordable. Take insect repellent in warmer months. Overall, a worthwhile stop if you're in the area.
