Montpelier Canyon Campground is a small, cozy Forest Service site with picnic tables, fire pits, vault toilets and a creek running behind some sites. It’s popular with solo tent campers and those headed to nearby Bear Lake or Montpelier Reservoir, but sites are compact and shrubbery can limit flat, shaded space — not ideal for large RVs. There’s no reliable drinking water on-site, and restrooms and spigots are reported as inconsistently maintained. Expect frequent road noise from the adjacent canyon road and limited cell service. If you bring water and travel light, it’s a quiet, rustic option.
