Mid Hills Campground is a quiet, remote spot in the Mojave with wide, well-spaced sites, picnic tables, fire rings (many with grates), and clean vault toilets. Its elevation and limited tree cover give excellent views and outstanding dark skies for stargazing, though some sites are exposed while others sit in small pinyon-juniper groves. There is currently no reliable potable water on site, and access roads can be rough—higher-clearance vehicles may be helpful. Expect wind at times; bring extra water, sturdy tent stakes, and supplies for a self-sufficient desert stay.

Mid Hills Campground in Mojave National Preserve near Kelso California provides primitive tent and small RV camping in a remote area of the park. Access limited due to rough road. On a first come first served basis the campground has an iron ranger for fee submission. Pit toilets, trash receptacles, potable water, fire rings, picnic tables; no dump station or utility hookups. Firewood is not available in the park. Hiking trails located in this area.
