What campers say

Matanuska River Park offers treed, relatively private dry campsites with a comfort station providing hot showers and flushing toilets, plus a playground, open fields and river and bike trails. It’s convenient to Palmer and has nearby parking and picnic facilities. Tradeoffs include aircraft and occasional helicopter noise from the adjacent airport landing pattern, and some sites or electric-hookup rows can feel tight for larger RVs. Trail signage is reported as limited, and bugs (mosquitoes, cottonwood debris) can be bothersome at times. Overall the park is well kept and family- and dog-friendly, with separate tent areas.
