Mary M. McCroskey State Park sits on a scenic ridge reached by gravel back roads and corduroy sections; there is no entrance fee. The park offers outstanding panoramic views and wildflower displays, several basic campgrounds (Iron Mountain, Redtail, Mission Mountain) with toilets and some potable water, and primitive ridge campsites. It’s popular with dual-sport riders and ATVs; expect dusty roads, noisy off‑road activity at times, and rutted trails that can be sketchy for hikers. Bring a real map, check which roads/trails are open to vehicles, and plan for limited shade and hot summer conditions at some sites.
