What campers say

Māhukona Beach Park offers excellent snorkeling directly off former concrete docks, with a convenient ladder entry and clear water teeming with fish, coral and old anchor/ship remnants. The site’s historic harbor, short lighthouse walk and sunset views across the channel add scenic appeal. Note there’s no sandy beach—the shoreline is lava rock—and access is from piers, so conditions can be exposed to the open ocean and large swells; ladder entry may be awkward for visitors with mobility concerns. Parking is available nearby, but onsite facilities are minimal (portable toilets reported).
