Long Hunter State Park offers scenic, peaceful lakefront and forested trails with bluff overlooks, making it a popular spot for easy to moderate walks. Trails are well-marked and include a paved, wheelchair- and stroller-friendly loop, benches and interpretive signs; wildlife sightings (deer, herons, songbirds, butterflies) are common. Facilities include a playground, picnic areas with grills, a small beach area and a welcoming visitor center. Dogs are allowed on leash and visitors are expected to clean up after pets. Because it’s a favored local destination, expect a mix of quiet moments and occasional family activity at peak times.

Long Hunter State Park in Hermitage Tennessee offers 2 backcountry campsites located at the end of the 5.5 mile long Volunteer Trail. The Volunteer Trail is a linear trail so a hiker hikes in and out on the same trail without looping. The only naturally occurring water on the trail is Percy Priest Lake.
