What campers say
Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park offers extensive, scenic trails and rugged granite waterways that are especially striking in fall. The park includes a visitor center with exhibits, ample parking, and a range of trails from easy (Horseshoe Glades) to more challenging. The shut-ins are popular for wading and swimming when water levels allow, but currents can be strong and water is cold; bring water shoes and towels and heed posted hazard flags. The area can get busy on nice days. Pets are welcome in many areas, though some overlooks or the main falls may be harder to access with dogs. Elephant Rocks is a short drive away.
