Johnson Lake State Recreation Area offers a scenic, well‑kept lake setting with boat ramps, a fishing pier, kayak rentals, a sandy beach and walking trails. Many visitors note excellent fishing, roomy shaded campsites, and friendly camp hosts. Site types vary—electric-only spots, gravel pads and some smaller or uneven sites—and reports on shower access differ (some say coin-operated).
