What campers say
Isaac Hale Park is a scenic black-sand beach and shoreline park known for natural warm pools/tide pools and dramatic lava-rock coastline. The drive through jungle and recent lava fields is part of the appeal. The pools are pleasantly warm and popular for soaking; lifeguards are often on duty near the main spring. Practical tradeoffs include strong currents and rough rocky sand that make open-ocean swimming risky, a short scramble over lava rocks to reach some areas, limited restroom facilities (porta-potties), and uneven terrain that can be difficult for those with mobility issues. Parking and viewing spots are generally available.
