Hopeville Pond State Park offers a friendly, family-oriented campground centered on a calm pond popular for kayaking and paddling. Sites are generally level with picnic tables, grills, and accessible showers and restrooms; one loop (F Street) is quieter but has more primitive pit toilets. Trails and bike paths are convenient and loop back to the park. Staff are described as welcoming, and the office sells ice. Tradeoffs include limited privacy between sites, occasional noise when the park is full (generators and groups), a shallow/muddy beach with no lifeguards, and occasional delayed site clearing.

Hopeville Pond State Park in Jewett City Connecticut which encompasses the Pachaug River, is noted for its glacial geologic features. Historically significant, it was a major fishing ground for the Mohegan Indians. At low water the stone weirs, constructed by the Indians at angles from the river banks, are still visible. Offers partial and primitive (no water, electric, or sewer) hookup RV and tent camping.
