What campers say

Highlands Hammock State Park Campground offers extensive, shaded hiking and biking trails through a lush hammock and swamp, with a short driveable loop to sample varied scenery. Wildlife sightings — including deer, gopher tortoises and armadillos — are commonly reported. The park includes a small CCC museum, a well‑stocked camp store that sells firewood and gifts, and restrooms/showers near the RV area. Tent sites in the primitive section are roomy and private; however, full‑hookup or 50‑amp sites are limited. Expect insects around dawn and dusk and occasional aging boardwalk sections that may need repair. Staff and volunteers are generally helpful.

This is a beautiful Florida state park. The interior roads are paved, some sites are paved, but mostly gravel. No sewer, but a dump station, water and electric (some 50amp sites). All sites have picnic table, fire pit, some cement pads. There's a separate wilderness camping area and another for area for tenters. Two playgrounds, laundry, immaculate restrooms, rec area, Music in the park lawn, multiple walking and biking trails, bike rentals, firewood for sale, shuffleboard, outdoor theater, dog walk areas, campfire circle. Well stocked gift store, tram rides throughout the park, lots of wildlife. CCC Museum on site (closed when we were there). 3 minutes to gas stations, restaurants, shopping, Lake Jackson water activities. 14 miles to Sebring Racetrack, 10 minutes to historic downtown Sebring. We've already made reservations for next year.

One of the nicest state parks in Florida. Clean, safe, well maintained. Great staff. No sewer hookups, only 30 amp electrical. Great value for the price. Take the tram ride back into the restricted part of the park for better wildlife views.
