We find that most of the sites are very roomy and easy to park in. Best feature is lots of green grass very well maintained. Roads are gravel but not dusty due to staff maintenance. Choices of shady tree sites or sunny “no trees” sites. Any campers have been returning here for years. Located on the edge of town.

Gunnison KOA Journey is a well-kept, family-friendly campground near downtown Gunnison with clean restrooms, grassy common areas, a playground and a small fishing pond. A roaming menagerie of mini donkeys, goats, pigs and other farm animals is a frequent highlight for kids and adds charm. Staff and the owner are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful. Practical tradeoffs include proximity to a small airport (early morning flights can be noticeable, especially at tent sites), gravel sites and dirt roads, occasional concerns about the laundry and dog-run upkeep, and limited walking access to restrooms from some cabins.

Odd parking and pretty tight. I backed in, but the RV sites next to me must pull straight in. This requires each space to share the outdoor living area. I felt like I had to wait for my neighbors to finish their dinner before we could go out to the picnic table to eat ours because we were so close to each other. Didn't like the lack of a private outdoor space. Restrooms were super clean and so was the laundry room. Nice owners who water down the gravel/dirt road almost daily to prevent dust.
