What campers say
Great River Bluffs State Park sits atop a bluff and is best known for sweeping overlooks of the Mississippi River Valley. Trails are generally well-marked, short and not strenuous, making the overlooks and bluff-top prairie easy to reach on a short visit. The campground offers a variety of sites including cart-in spots and is relatively quiet, though some sites are compact. Amenities are basic (vault toilets, limited running water seasonally) and the ranger station can be easy to miss. Expect gravel access roads, seasonal insects and a few steep sections near overlooks—rewarding views for a modest, well-maintained park.
