What campers say

Grant River Recreation Area offers strong river views and sunsets along the Mississippi, with level sites and many concrete pads, 50‑amp hookups, and clean restrooms and showers. Water spigots are available but can be far from some sites, so bring a long hose. Park staff and camp hosts are reported helpful, and nearby Potosi attractions (winery, brewery museum, small town shops) make it convenient. The main tradeoff is frequent freight trains on adjacent tracks; horns and nighttime passes are commonly noted, so earplugs or being a heavy sleeper helps. A few visitors mention seasonal gnats.
