George P Cossar State Park offers a peaceful lakeside setting with well-spaced campsites, cabins, and full-hookup RV sites amid mixed pine and deciduous trees. The park is quiet and family-friendly, with playgrounds, mini‑golf, disc golf and generally clean bathhouse/shower facilities; deer are frequently seen near campsites at dusk. Practical tradeoffs include some older infrastructure, inconsistent trail upkeep (a multi-mile hiking route can be hard to locate and overgrown), and heavy gnats after rain. Reservations are advisable during busy periods for overnight or extended stays.
