What campers say
General Burnside Island State Park offers a well-kept, scenic lakeside campground with a good boat ramp, many coves and waterfalls, and several hiking options including a trail with lake sunset views. Hosts and park staff are described as friendly and attentive, and sites range from primitive to full hookups. The on-site golf course is highly regarded. Practical tradeoffs: some sites near a steep access hill (around site 91) can be difficult for large rigs—steep slopes, tight turns, limited hookups there—and bathrooms are used as storm shelters, which can feel unnerving during severe weather. Occasional wildlife sightings have been reported.
