What campers say

Gebhard Woods State Park is a small, quiet park with direct access to the Illinois & Michigan Canal Trail, making it a convenient entry point for hiking, cycling, picnicking, fishing and paddling. Facilities include parking, benches, a picnic shelter, playground and restrooms, and there are inexpensive grassy campsites near the canal. The park can feel secluded and is valued for its mature trees and natural setting. Note some visitors have found limited attractions, seasonal mosquitoes, and occasional maintenance issues (mowed areas, locked restroom access due to vandalism). Trail improvement work on the canal has been ongoing.
