📖 About This Campground
Fossil Falls BLM Campground near Little Lake California has 11 sites that are located within short walking distance of the unique geologic formation. Set in the bed of a lava field campsites are mixed within dark rock outcroppings reminiscent of a lunar landscape.
The campground fee is $6.00 per night (as of 2017). The camping area has a restroom, a hand pump for potable water, fire rings and picnic tables. Primitive tent and RV camping sites mixed within a volcanic lava flow near the scenic fossil falls dry river bed once occupied by the Owens River.
The scenic area offers hiking trails to the falls and around the black rock outcroppings left from an ancient lava flow. Less than 2 miles off Highway 395 via a graded gravel road the campground is easily accessible for most size RVs but is better suited to tent and small campers/ trailers. If this will be your first trip in we recommend walking or scouting your route; wrong turns are not advised as big RVs can easily get stuck in the tighter areas. The main camping loop is very accessible.
Picnic tables and fire rings are available.
