What campers say
Fort Mountain State Park offers outstanding mountain scenery, panoramic overlooks, and a network of well-marked hiking trails that include waterfalls, stairs, and an intriguing ancient rock wall. A small clear lake, playground and mini-golf provide family options, and the visitor center staff and restrooms are generally praised. The campground has two loops (creekside and lakeside) with clean bathhouses, but sites can be tight and hilly—better suited to tents or smaller RVs, and the dump station is offsite. Expect generally peaceful settings, though occasional noisy groups and litter have been reported; a day-use parking fee applies.
