What campers say
El Morro National Monument Campground is a small, free, well-kept site with about nine sites and basic amenities. Sites vary in size — a pull-through and one accessible site exist, several have shade, fire rings and tent pads. Registration at the entrance kiosk and display of the permit is required. Vault toilets are provided and generally kept clean, though occasional odors have been reported. Water availability appears seasonal or variable; RVs are best kept to smaller lengths (around 27 feet). The campground is roughly a mile from the visitor center, can fill early, and visitors note wildlife sounds (coyotes, elk) and occasional road/aircraft noise.
