It’s hard to decide whether this is a 4 or 5 so I’ll list the pros and cons and you can decide for yourself what’s important. For us, the pros made it a 5 and it’s a place we would love to come back to. As background, we stayed in a 26 travel trailer, over New Year.

Pros:

+ Stunning location
+ Some of the best bird watching we’ve found
+ Lots of nature trails
+ A beautiful beach with great shelling
+ Near to Apalachicola – we got a taxi on New Year and it didn’t break the budget!
+ Old but clean bathrooms
+ Good sized, private sites, surrounded by vegetation

Cons:

– Long way from the ranger station to the campsite (around 4 miles)
– No laundry (that we found) – but it is a state park
– Sites are compacted shells so we needed a bit of work to get level, but did without too much trouble
