What campers say
Datil Well Recreation Area is a small, well‑maintained BLM campground popular for stargazing and short hikes. Sites are spaced with covered picnic ramadas, cement pads and fire rings; a few pull‑throughs and mostly level pads (some have a slight tilt). Vault toilets and potable water spigots are available, but there’s no dump station and only a few sites offer electrical hookups. Camp hosts are regularly noted as helpful, and the location is generally quiet (occasional livestock or coyote noise). Fees are modest and Senior/National Park passes may reduce the cost.
