Crystal Grove Diamond Mine & Campground is a small, family-friendly spot with personable, helpful staff and plentiful Herkimer diamond hunting that appeals to kids and adults. Creekside primitive sites are scenic and well maintained, with reasonable spacing between sites and some hookup options. The on-site store and tool rentals are affordably priced, and more experienced miners often share tips. Practical trade-offs: camping and mining are billed separately (campers may receive a modest discount), facilities are limited but generally kept clean (coin showers, a small number of bathrooms), and cell service is minimal outside the store.
