BLM Dispersed Area near Zion NP

Kolob Terrace Road BLM free camping is available off Kolob Terrace Road north of Virgin Utah. We have updated the address and GPS coordinates to route you to this location. A bit more dispersed this camping area is located just off the roadway. Sites are tucked in to the trees along the banks of the river. Dirt roads and site pads the location is quiet and serene. No amenities or services pack out what you packin. Please clean up after yourselves and don't blow it this time! This listing used to be for the Coal Pits Wash area. THIS AREA IS NOW CLOSED TO CAMPING!! Coal Pits Wash BLM Dispersed Area between Virgin Utah and Springdale Utah is a popular primitive tent camping area for visiting Zion National Park adjacent to the highway on BLM land. Free camping for up to 14 days. Camps must be 200+ feet from the water to comply with rules. Trails into Zion National Park begin from this area (permits required). Coal pits was closed after being completely over-run with campers who violated all rules of dispersed camping including littering, defacing property, camping too close to water sources and over-crowding.
