Cathedral State Park is a compact, well-preserved stand of old-growth hemlocks with short, well-marked loop trails that are good for families and casual walkers. Highlights include towering trees, a pleasant creek with wooden bridges, a picnic area and playground, clean restrooms, and at least one accessible path to an overlook. Practical tradeoffs: the park is small in acreage, some routes have exposed roots and rocks, and a few trails can transmit road noise; cell service is spotty. Overall it’s an easy, peaceful stop to see mature forest without a long hike.
