Boulder Campground sits on the lake with many paved, spacious sites offering great views and memorable sunsets. Campsites commonly have fire rings, picnic tables, potable water spigots, and a mix of 30/50A electric with some full hookups; dump station, laundry and clean shower/restroom facilities are available. The park is popular with boaters and anglers thanks to a marina/boat ramp. Hosts and staff are frequently described as friendly. Practical tradeoffs include rocky shorelines and no designated beach in most areas, occasional strong winds and seasonal mosquitoes, but overall the site is well maintained and peaceful.

📖 About This Campground

Boulder Day Use Area is situated on the eastern shore of Carlyle Lake, a prime getaway for city-dwellers and families. Located 50 miles east of St. Louis, the area offers the peaceful retreat of a small town combined with the grandeur of Illinois' largest man-made lake.
The large group picnic shelter can accommodate up to 75 people. The site provides modern amenities, as well as fuel and boat storage. It is adjacent to the Boulder Recreation Area, which offers reservable campsites.
