What campers say
Boulder Basin Campground sits up a rough 5-mile dirt/fire road and rewards visitors with spacious, well-separated sites, plentiful boulders for climbing and wide valley views with a nearby fire lookout hike. There is no potable water on site and only pit/vault toilets; facilities are generally maintained but can be odorous. High-clearance or 4WD is recommended, though some small cars have reached the campground. It can feel busy at times and insects and fallen pine sap may be a nuisance. Because the location is remote, secure valuables and gear, as a few visitors reported theft, and arrive prepared for self-sufficiency.
