What campers say

Borrego Palm Canyon Campground sits at the base of desert mountains with immediate access to popular trails, including the palm oasis hike. Campsites are generally spacious for a desert park and often include shade ramadas or historic CCC shelters, picnic tables, fire rings, nearby water faucets and some full-hookup RV sites. Restrooms and token-operated showers are reported clean and serviced regularly; rangers and staff are frequently praised. Visitors enjoy dark skies and wildflower displays in season. Tradeoffs include daytime heat and occasional noise or close neighboring groups—so expect easy access and amenities rather than complete solitude.

📖 About This Campground

Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in Borrego Springs California is located in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park which is the largest state park in California and offers full hookup RV and tent sites. several camping loops including segregation of RV sites from tent sites makes this a popular destination in the desert for three season camping (not in summer unless you like it hot). Hiking trails depart from this location and off-road warriors are only minutes from many popular trails for vehicles. Shade structures are available at the tent camping areas. Needed to post a real quick note. The state park is within 2 miles of downtown Borrego Springs meaning there is a string Verizon signal at the main hookup campground. This counters what we had read on other review sites. Overall a great place to stay if you don't mind some rowdier neighbors. Incredible views of the mountains and hiking trails from the campgrounds. For a CA state park rates are reasonable.

Legacy Reviews

This is our favorite California State Park. Lots of space between sites and the night sky is spectacular. The little town of Borrego Springs has a market and several good restaurants. The old town of Julian is about 30 minutes away and is fun to visit. If you like driving desert roads, there plenty of trails to travel. Dog friendly providing you keep your dog on a lease and off the hiking trails and open desert. There are hiking trails and a good visitor center.
