What campers say
Big Bear Lake State Forest Campground is a family-run, long-established, well-kept rustic campground on a clean, swim-and-fish friendly lake with many lakefront sites and notable sunsets. Sites are spacious and pet friendly; basic supplies like ice and wood are available and some sites offer water and electrical hookups. Facilities are primitive—vaulted toilets and hand pumps—generally clean but occasionally odorous. The park is quiet and laid-back for most stays, though weekends or large family groups can be noisy and enforcement of quiet hours is minimal; generators are permitted outside quiet hours. Some sites lack shade and trails may have poison ivy.
