We visited Bannack State Park in late September, 2018. We camped in the Vigilante campground as directed by the state park personnel in the visitor's center. Our rig is a 35' 9" fifth wheel and we had plenty of room to pull in to the visitor center parking lot for information before we turned around and checked into the campground. Vigilante is better suited for larger rigs, but at this time of year, with no campers, Road Agent, when empty, could easily accommodate a larger rig. Vigilante is setup in a large circle with the one pull through in the center. The other sites are on the outside. Road agent is situated similarly, but with no pull through's and is better suited for tents or smaller RV's. Both CGs have pit toilets and trash cans and are within an easy 1/4 mile walking distance of Bannack. We would definitely stay here again, especially at this time of year.

What campers say
Bannack State Park is a well‑preserved ghost town with over fifty original buildings and boardwalks that visitors can enter and explore. The staffed visitor center/gift shop provides informative guidebooks and helpful orientation. Nearby, maintained campgrounds (including RV parking) allow walking access to the town, though campers should check site availability in advance. The site is popular for history, photography and wildlife viewing; a small cemetery on a hill offers broad views. Expect uneven, muddy surfaces in wet weather and aging wood—sturdy shoes (and gloves if exploring interiors) are recommended. Some visitors find the night atmosphere notably eerie.
