Ackley Lake State Park is a popular, straightforward spot for boating, fishing, and basic lakeside camping. Many visitors praise the fishing, boat access, sandy beach and views of the Little Belt Mountains, and most campsites include a fire ring. Expect primitive pit toilets and limited facilities; cleanliness reports are mixed. Sites are generally exposed with limited tree cover, so wind can be a factor. Water level, shoreline weeds and boat traffic vary by season, and the boat launch/dock location may not match online maps. Overall it’s a simple, scenic lake campground with practical tradeoffs for amenities and exposure.
