(And Why It Happens Every. Single. Trip.)

It’s 7:14 AM.
You woke up to birds screaming like unpaid interns.
Coffee’s half-brewed. The sun is blinding. And you’re ready for a calm, carb-filled morning.

You reach for the cereal. You find the cereal.
You are victorious.

Then:
No bowls. Not one. Not even a measuring cup to fake it.

Welcome to RV Packing: The Tragicomedy Edition.

🧠 How Did We Get Here?

Because in the pre-trip rush, we remembered:

  • The solar lantern

  • The emergency duct tape

  • Three pairs of flip-flops

  • And… the box of cereal

But not the bowls.
Or the spoons.
Or the emotional resilience to face this moment.

🍴 Improvisation Station

At this point, you have options.
None of them good. All of them memorable.

  • Mug Cereal: Bonus points if it’s your coffee mug and you now have to choose between hydration and hunger

  • Solo Cup Splash: Warning: may structurally collapse under milk

  • Ziplock Swirl: Add milk, seal, squish, sip like a smoothie. Do not look anyone in the eye.

  • Pot Cereal: Your biggest saucepan just became a communal breakfast bowl. Welcome to rock bottom.

🔁 Why This Keeps Happening

Because RV life is chaotic.
Because every trip is different.
Because you assumed the bowls lived in the rig and apparently they don’t.
Because someone (you) said, “We’ll just grab a couple before we leave.”

Lies. All lies.

📋 What You’ll Do Next Time

  • Add “bowls” to the checklist you’ll still forget to check

  • Vow to pre-pack a cereal kit with bowls, spoons, and a note that says “YOU ALWAYS FORGET THIS”

  • Consider switching to breakfast bars, which can’t emotionally betray you

💬 Final Thoughts

Everyone forgets something.
Some forget the sewer hose.
Some forget the power cord.
You? You forgot the cereal bowls—and that’s okay.

Because RV life is nothing if not creative… and mostly cereal-fueled.
