American Prairie Reserve Antelope Creek Campground at Mars Vista is located seven miles north of the Missouri River along US 191. Antelope Creek has 12 RV sites with power, four small rental cabins (each sleeps 4), five drive-in tent platforms and three walk-in tent platforms, fire rings, potable water, a bathhouse with showers, and an interpretive hiking trail.

    Antelope Creek is the newest public campground on American Prairie Reserve (APR), located about 7 miles north of the Missouri River on U.S. 191. You’ll find a range of accommodations, from walk-in tent sites and rustic cabins to RV sites with electric. The campground offers potable water, showers, and a dump station for visitor use. Maximum stay is 7 days.

    • Sites 1, 2, 5, 6, 11, 19 and 20 are reservable online and marked with green site numbers.
    • Sites 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12-18 are first-come, first taken and marked with blue site numbers.
    • Payment is by credit card only. We accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, and American Express.
    • Check-in is from 3:30–5:40 pm at the trailer marked “Registration” parked in RV site #12. The camp hosts will collect payment for walk-in guests, and provide the door code for the bath house or cabins.

    Campground Rules

    1. Due to remoteness, this is a pack-in, pack-out facility for trash and recycling. A small trash container is provided in the bath house for hygiene products.
    2. Quiet hours are from 9pm – 7am, and from 10pm – 7am in the months of June, July and August.
    3. Site limits are one RV or tent per site, 2 vehicles, and 6 people.
    4. No generator use permitted. Campers requiring power should select an RV site.
    5. No shooting of firearms or archery equipment is permitted in the campground area.
    6. Fires allowed only in provided fire rings. Fires may be limited or prohibited at certain times. No wood gathering.
    7. No swimming (people or pets) in the wildlife pond and wetland.
    8. The water station is for filling containers/tanks only. Do not wash vehicles.
    9. Please do not hang or clean game from campground infrastructure.
    10. Pets must be under voice control or on a leash while in the campground or on the trail and may not be left outside unattended.
    11. No fireworks.

    Montana Basecamp in kalispell Montana provides full hookup RV sites in a new (opening 2019) RV park catering to high end clientele (rates start in the low $49/$89 night range).

    The first phase of Montana Basecamp will feature 62 sites, with plans for 330 sites when the park is completed. Each of the campsites will be 35 by 150 feet, and designed to accommodate even the largest Class A Motorhome and fifth wheel.

    Travellers Rest Cabins and RV Park in Darby Montana provides a handful of full hookup RV sites, some tent sites and cabins just off US 93 in the Bitterroot Valley. Set on packed gravel roads the park is well maintained with friendly owners. On the north side of town the RV park is adjacent to a city park with soccer field. Pull thru sites have good spacing and some shade.

    Wild Horse Hot Springs in Hot Spring Montana provides full hookup RV and tent camping near spring fed hot water pools. A long running establishment shut down in 2013 it has since been renovated and re-opened. Set in a rural area the road into the property is packed dirt with a handful of backin RV sites.

    Big Arm Marina Grill and RV Park in Big Arm Montana provides 18 full hookup RV camping sites situated along the shores of Flat Head Lake. The sites and roads are paved with grass separation between sites. Brand new in 2017 the park is located on the southwestern side of the lake north of Polson. A development owned and funded by the S&K Gaming (The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes) the property has been entirely renovated and represents a fine destination for campers and boaters. Easily accessed the sites are level and can accommodate large RVs (they are backins). Close to Big Arm State Park.

    Boulder Creek Lodge in Hall Montana offers full and partial hookup RV and tent camping in a remote and scenic area. IN addition the park has primitive tent and small RV sites. The location has bathrooms, showers a store and restaurant. Surrounded by forest the park is easily accessed.

    West Glacier RV Park and Cabins in West Glacier Montana is a new RV park under development in the small town of West Glacier. Planned to have 102 full hookup RV sites and 25 cabins the park received approval from the county in May 2017 to proceed and work should begin shortly. Estimated opening in 2018. Located just west of town the park will have a paved walking trail that will allow guests to safely get to and from town. The convenient location will make this RV park the closest full service RV park to the National Park. Guests will be able to walk or bike ride along the paved multi-use trail leading from West Glacier in to Apgar area. The park is also close to the golf course and public river launch for tubing the East Fork of the Flathead River.

    The park has a set limit of 1 dog per site allowed (set by the county).

    Camper Corner RV Park in Ennis Montana provides full hookup RV sites on packed gravel less than one block from the corner of Main Street and US 287. 18 full hook-up sites each with their own grassy picnic area and shade trees. There is a designated tent camping area that can accommodate up to 20 single person tents. Also on site are 2 bath houses containing a total of 4 showers, 4 bathrooms and a laundry facility with 2 washers and dryers. Large sites with plenty of room to back in. Short and long term rates available.

    Moose Crossing RV Park in Marion Montana provides full hookup RV camping in a rural area along US 2 in northwestern Montana. The park has a mix of long term and short term sites. A small well stocked roadside market with fuel serves as the office. Lots of wildlife in the park. Located near Little Bitterroot Lake the park is 20 miles from Kalispell.

    La-Vi RV Park in Troy Montana offers full hookup RV sites for short and long term stays. A mix of RV and mobile home sites located in town. The park is non-descript with no major signage except for a small “RV Park” sign on the highway. Backin sites located along a single entrance/ exit road. This is not a destination park and contrary to information found in other directories does not back up to the river (it is on the opposite side of the road).

    Sites are in an open setting. No restrooms or showers this location is for self contained units only.

    Blue Moon Saloon Campground and RV Sites in Cameron Montana offers full hookup RV sites and tent camping in an open setting just off US 287 south of Ennis. Suitable for any size RV the rural location is convenient for travelers heading to or from Yellowstone or those looking to venture up to Virginia City.

    Montana’s Duck Lake Lodge near Babb Montana offers full, partial and primitive hookup RV and tent camping in a scenic and secluded setting. The resort has an onsite restaurant/ bar, small fishing pond and is surrounded by forest. A laundry, restrooms and showers are available.

    Able to accommodate any size RV the resort is accessed via a short graded gravel road. Not far form Glacier National Park and the namesake Duck Lake this location offers a nice camping option for folks looking for a bit different from the normal camping spots in St Mary.

    Glacier Elkhorn Cabins & Campground in Babb Montana is a very rustic campground located along US 89 heading north out of St Marys towards the Canadian border. Located down a dirt road the park is best suited to tent and small RV campers. A reasonable price matches the location amenities which are simple and basic. The sites are cut into the forest with picnic benches and fire rings; nothing fancy.

    Showers are available for an additional fee. There are cabins advertised for this location but your best bet is to bring your own accommodations.

    All sites are primitive and provide no utility hookups.

    Choteua City Park Campground in Choteau Montana is a city managed park providing inexpensive camping for a 3 day limit to travelers passing through town (usually heading to or coming from Glacier National Park). A mix of larger and smaller RV sites on mowed natural grass/ weeds there are two camping sections. The first is out in front and will be the first you see on approach; these sites are not as pretty. If you circle around to the back past the bathrooms and next to the ball fields are a bunch of large sites tucked in among old growth trees; prettier and quieter.

    The city park has a walking path, playground, and the aforementioned bathroom and ball fields. Nothing fancy but suitable for a short stay. There is a water fill in the front section along with a dump station. As of 2016 the nightly rate was $8 paid to the iron ranger.

    Choteua is a rural farming community with a small downtown area.

    Recreation Road Primitive Camp near Wolf Creek Montana is a large pull out along a side spur road off Interstate 15 north of Helena. Free primitive camping is open to RVs and tent campers adjacent to a small and scenic creek. There is road noise from the freeway located on the opposing cliff side. A vault toilet is available along with a picnic bench. The railroad runs through this canyon too so noise is an issue.

    Fishing and outdoor adventure are in easy reach including the Lyons Creek Rd.

    The dirt pull out is easy to access for any size RV. It is not level with a slight slope down from the road way. Recreation Rd is lightly traveled unless an accident or rock slide closes the Interstate.

    Silos Campground north of Townsend Montana is a county run park adjacent to Canyon Ferry Lake (Missouri River) providing primitive hookup RV and tent camping in a scenic setting. Wide open sites with no shade to speak of the park is popular for locals spending time on the lake. Multiple boat ramps allow easy access. Pit toilets and picnic pavilions available the park has iron rangers for easy payment. Reasonable fee and easy access for any size RV. Dirt/ gravel roads and site pads the area is exposed to elements should a thunder storm roll in.

    The sites are all backins but the nature of the terrain will allow you to pull thru if needed.

    Stores and cafes close by. Water fill spigots available throughout the property. The campground is on BLM land.

    Helena Campground & RV Park north of Helena Montana caters to permanent RV guests with full hookup RV sites. A former KOA the park has seen better days. Serious signs of neglect most of the guests are long term. Pull thru and back in RV sites available. Dirt roads and site pads. The pool has been filled in and shut down.

    Editor note (opinion): Do not be mislead by their website; there are better choices in the area.

    Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds Campground in Helena Montana provides partial (30 amp electric) and primitive tent and RV camping in a designated campground on the fair property. The fairgrounds are well kept with the standard country fair provisions including horse stalls and riding areas. The fairgrounds are also home to a public park with playground equipment and picnic tables. Located in a quiet area the grounds can be very peaceful and with the reasonable nightly rate the park is a suitable choice for travelers passing through Helena (about 2 miles off Interstate 15). Water spigots are available on the property to fill up your tanks.

    Picnic tables and fire rings are placed at each site. Registration is handled through the main office located next to the ticket booth at the main grandstand (the lot out front is large enough for any size rig to pull in and out of). The office is open weekdays until 5PM local time; an on-sight attendant is available outside that window.

    Across the street from the fairgrounds is a ball field location that hosts numerous annual and seasonal tournaments.

    All the sites are backins in the designated camping area. Dirt roads and site pads in the campground; the main fairgrounds roads are all paved. No dump station on site.

    The RV loops are in an open setting. Tent sites do have some shade trees. A shower house is available in the main restroom located a bit too far from the campground for an easy walk.

    Downstream Campground in Fort Peck Montana provides primitive and partial (electric) hookup RV and tent camping sites under a cottonwood canopy of trees. Excellent fishing and shade from summer heat make this US Corp of Engineers park a popular place to stay.

    Downstream Campground offers 85 family campsites, 70 of which have electrical hookups; 15 sites are tent-only. One large group campsite is available with electrical hookups. Seven day-use picnic shelters are available for reservations, all with electrical hookups.

    The campground offers flush and vault toilets, showers, playgrounds, a basketball court and horseshoe pits. A dump station and fish cleaning station are located on-site.

    West End Tent & Trailer is located nearby, providing additional campsites on a first come, first served basis. 13 sites have 30-amp electrical hookups; overflow sites are non-electric.

    Ackley Lake State Park Campground near Hobson Montana provides 15 primitive tent and RV camping sites adjacent to a recreational lake. Located in farm country the park has views of the surrounding mountains.
