    The McCoys Ferry Campground is located at Mile 110.4 on the C&O Canal Towpath, between the towns of Big Pool and Big Spring on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. The campsites are drive-in, large enough to park a very small fifth wheel/travel trailer/RV/pop-out with a 20′ ft. maximum. McCoys Ferry has a tunnel access which limits vehicle height to 10′ 3″.

    The campground has 12 single drive-in campsites. Each single will accommodate up to eight people. Single campsites have a picnic table, fire ring and grill. There is one group site available with space for two vehicles and a small trailer or support vehicle less than 20 ft. The group site can accommodate 30 people and has four picnic tables with grill and fire pit. Protected pit toilets and accessible portable toilets are available. Potable hand pump water is available April 15 – November 1. No motor vehicle traffic is allowed on the towpath. Parking is allowed in the drive-in campsites and the adjacent parking lot for vehicles with trailers.

    The most popular activity for McCoys Ferry campers is boating and fishing. The campground has a boat ramp for easy access to the Potomac River for kayakers and fisherman alike. Be sure to acquire a Maryland Fishing License for those age 16 or older.

    The Fifteen Mile Creek Campground is located at Mile 140 on the C&O Canal Towpath, in the town of Little Orleans upstream of Hancock and downstream of Paw Paw, WV, on the Maryland side of the of the Potomac River. The campsites are drive-in, large enough to park a small fifth wheel/travel trailer/RV/pop-out with a 20′ ft. maximum.

    The campground has nine single drive-in campsites. There is one group site available that does not have direct vehicle access. The group site can accommodate 30 people.     The Spring Gap Campground is located at Mile 173.3 on the C&O Canal Towpath, near the city of Cumberland on the Maryland side of the Potomac River.

    Spring Gap Campground offers 12 single drive-in campsites and two drive-in group sites. Campsites 1, 2, 8, 11 and 13 can fit a single vehicle (i.e., car/pickup/van). Campsites 3-7, 12, 14 can fit a small 20 ft. or less RV/trailer/pop-up. Single sites can accommodate up to eight people. Each single has a picnic table, fire pit and grill. Campsites 9 and 10 are group sites capable of holding 30 people each. The group site has room for two vehicles. The group site has four picnic tables, a fire pit and grill. Pit and portable toilets are available. Hand pump water is available April 15 – November 1.

    Wooley Swamp Farm in Snow Hill North Carolina provides primitive and electric hookup RV and cabin camping in a rustic setting focused on the live game hunts. Fishing is also available the park recently (2017) re-opened following devastating flooding. Located in a thicket of trees this destination primarily appeals to hunters and anglers. A 6 acre catch and release pond and access to the Contentnea Creek for fishing. Hunters of all skill range enjoy scheduled hunting packages for hogs, rams, and Spanish goat.

    Robert C. McDonell Campground in Rockville Maryland provides 7 walk-in tent camping sites in a Cabin John Regional Park. Campings feature grills, tables, a campfire circle and pit toilets. There are two tent pads on each site. Two picnic tables per site, plus a grill and fire pit on each site. Depending on the site, up to 10 campers can be accomodated. NOTE: Camp sites are available year-round with no running water between November 1 and March 31. Lower sites # 1, 2, 6, 7 and upper sites # 3, 4, 5.

    Cedarville State Forest in Brandywine Maryland offers partial and primitive tent and RV camping in a wooded setting near the Zekiah Swamp.

    New Germany State Park in Grantsville Maryland is nestled between the 2,900 ft. Big Savage Mountain to the east and the eastern Continental Divide along Meadow Mountain to the west. Primitive tent and RV camping.

    Patuxent Camp Sites in Saint Leonard Maryland offers partial and primitive (no water, electric, or sewer) hookup RV and tent camping adjacent to the Patuxent River.

    Greenbelt Park in Greenbelt Maryland provides primitive tent and RV camping in a wooded setting. Managed by the National Park Service. Heavily forested campground is best suited to smaller RVs.

    Take-It-Easy Campground in Callaway Maryland offers full hookup RV and tent camping for short and long term stays in an open setting.

    From the park: Take It Easy Campground is family owned and operated with 242 sites. Most sites have full hookups with 30/50 amp service, and many are shaded. Our pop-up area has water and electric. We are a pet and family-friendly campground with areas for eating, play, and relaxing. Military personnel and contractors are welcome too.

    Check out our inviting picnic areas, spacious sites, lake, fishing pond and well maintained grounds. Our swimming pool is open all summer long. We also have a prayer chapel.

    Take It Easy Campground is great for  family outings, and there are lots of fun things to do in the local area.

    A very nice, quiet, family owned campground. The staff is very courteous and helpful in resolving any issues that may arise.. Free Wi-Fi throughout the campground. Lots of room in the fields for the dogs to walk while on a leash. A nice and not too crowded pool in the summer months and there is fishing all year round in both the pond and the lake. A great, relaxing time here.

    Holiday Park Campground in Greensboro Maryland provides partial hookup RV and tent camping for short and seasonal stays with shaded sites.

    Taylors Island Family Campground in Taylors Island Maryland offers partial hookup RV and tent camping catering to seasonal guests adjacent to Chesapeake Bay. Short term sites are available.

    Smallwood State Park in Marbury Maryland offers 15 partial hookup RV and tent camping sites in a wooded setting near the historic home of General Smallwood (an American Revolution General).

    Duck Neck Campground in Chestertown Maryland is located along the Chester River, a tidal river connected to the Chesapeake Bay, and Rabbit Creek on the Northeast side of the park. Surrounded by rural and scenic farmland the park is close to historic Chestertown home of Washington University (the 3rd oldest in the country).

    There are two distinct areas of the park. The first, and largest, is the seasonal camper area. Accessed via a gated entry guests have RVs with patios and additions as their second home. About 300 of these sites exist in a heavily wooded area. the second area is a short term and overnight guest area.

    Full hookups are available along with 20/30/50 amp hookups. Short term guests have choices between a grassy area and water or water front campsites. the water front campsites offer scenic views of the Chester River.

    There is a camp store, pool, cafe, propane fill, boat docks, fishing docks, and boat launch. guests have a covered pavilion.  The park is an excellent destination for relaxed enjoyment.

    Super high speed internet is available in the office area for short term guests. Cell service including Verizon is spotty in this area.

    Cherry Hill Park in College Park Maryland provides full hookup RV and tent camping in a park popular for visitors to the Washington DC area. Sites ranging from tent to large RVs the park is home to a Metro bus stop for public transportation to the National Mall. Onsite playgrounds and pool offer family friendly amenities.
