In a word… amazing. The history of this location alone is worth a stay. We were lucky enough to be here during a summer weekend so we could ride the classic steam train AND watch the House of David baseball team play on the original location of their field. If you are unfamiliar with the lore of House of David it is well worth an exploration in the local library; my brief description would do it no justice.
We had a large pull thru site that had recently been cleaned up. Park management was friendly and visible. This area of Michigan is interesting in that you stay in Benton Harbor which is a black neighborhood replete with corrupt politicians and then cross the river to St Joe which is a white neighborhood with a booming vibrant downtown. If there is any better place to see the racial divide in action I am unsure how it could be more demonstrative.
Nightly rate was very reasonable. We had a picnic table, brand new, and fire ring. It was shared with our neighbors which was a real treat. The first evening we helped a brand new RVing couple from Chicago with their dealer plate truck and trailer :). they were complete newbies so it was fun teaching them the basics.
This park absolutely has to be on your must visit locations if you want to get a feel for old school midwest towns.
