Camping and outdoor recreation are big money in the United States providing 6.1 million American jobs and generating $646 billion in spending, $39 billion in federal taxes and another $39 billion in state & local revenues, according the Outdoor Recreation Foundation.
In their 2012 Outdoor Economy Report, camping stands out as number one of the top 10 activities contributing $143 billion in annual spending. The next closest with $86 billion is water sports. Camping exceeds fishing, hunting, motorcycling & wildlife viewing combined!
