The park is fairly open with younger trees, so sites can lack shade; site surfaces vary—many are gravel and level, but some spots are uneven or use recycled asphalt. Bathhouses are relatively new with private stalls and hot showers, though cleaning consistency has been mentioned. Reservation and check-in procedures can be confusing, and on-site security appears limited—lock valuables. Overall it’s a pleasant, family-friendly park with a few practical tradeoffs to consider.

📖 About This Campground

Big Woods Lake Campground in Cedar Falls Iowa is a city managed park offering 55 full hookup campsites as well as a non-modern camping area. Each full hookup site includes a level regrind camp pad, electricity (30 and 50 amp), water (seasonal) and sewer. Non-modern camp area offers campers the option of camping with or without electricity. All campsites include the use of a fire ring and picnic table as well as wireless internet. The campground overlooks Big Woods Lake and is bordered on the south side by the Cedar Valley Trail System.
