About Me

Retired and live on the Oregon Coast in small village. Bucket list includes visiting as many National Parks and Monuments as possible. We travel in a stand up type teardrop trailer. It has a folding table with cushion bench seats that convert to a "short" king size bed - 2 burner cooktop - sink - hot water - 3 way frig - furnace and A/C - even a small tv with cable hookup and dvd player, all inside. No toilet or shower so we rely on being close to rv park's restroom/shower facility.

My Comments

L.L. Stub Stewart State Park - My Rating is out of 5 -- Site 079 Dairy Creek East Excellent State Park – quiet – roomy – in the hills among the trees and lots of green grass Most recent stay was Mother’s Day Weekend May 7 – 9, 2021 ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area OMG! This place gets the highest rating in all areas. Restroom/shower building is immaculate; bright and sparkling clean. The staff keeps it that way with regular cleaning. Had air dryers for hands, but wished for paper towels in restroom area for clean-up (realize it is statewide). Individual uni-sex showers with hot water and good pressure fully tiled. Very nice design feature was a separator “pony” wall between the changing area with built in bench and shower stall with soap dish. Kept the water spray away from the changing alcove / stayed dry for toweling off. Ample wall hooks – other parks / campgrounds should use this design as a model for perfect showering experience The grounds are well kept and all sites cleaned / raked after use ready for next camper. Most all sites have full hook-ups, are all level and are roomy with wide greenspace between sites. All have gravel pads with large picnic table and fire pit ring. will accommodate a variety of dinning/shade canopies on the gravel area only metal stake will work. All interior roads are paved easy access for all sized rigs. Separate walk-in tenting area plus a tent allowed with an RV on site. Hiking/biking trails everywhere – even has pumped air on trail for bikes if needed. And it has a disk golf course right in the campground.

Three Island Crossing State Park - My Rating is out of 5 -- THREE ISLAND CROSSING STATE PARK CAMPGROUND – GLENS FERRY, ID 08-16-2019 $44.22 Nice municipal park – quiet – among the trees and lots of green grass Most recent stay was June August 18, 2019 ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area We reserved site 82 (a long pull-thru site) through Reserve America, an easy process; had a 30 amp electrical and water hookup. There is a dump station on site at the top of the hill as you exit the park. Campground set up in an oval loop with rv sites on the outside and restroom/shower building in the middle – easy access. Green grass and shade trees everywhere, an open and airy campground with ample room between sites – no crowding here. Well cared for, grass was cut, trees provided ample shade, paved roadways and site pads. Each site has a nice aluminum picnic table and fire pit and all sites good sized – a very relaxing atmosphere. RV dump station at the top of the hill when exiting is easy to access and use. Restroom/shower building needed some TLC and showed its wear lacking general maintenance. It was clean inside but it ended there. Would have rated this park a 5 star but because of the lack of maintenance in the restroom/shower building it gets a 3.

Big Meadows Campground - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Don’t pass this one by Most recent stay was June 23rd thru June 26th 2017 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area We had reservations in Big Meadow Campground [recommended] and did get close to the restroom with flush toilets and sinks with warm water [several placed throughout the camp] but showers [private lockable rooms] were further away; the only one in camp at the entrance. Restrooms were cleaned twice a day [am/pm] but showers once daily [am] and they ran out of hot water every night due to full campground; best to take showers early am and bring extra quarters – in case you can’t finish in allotted time. Each shower had bench and hooks for towel and clothes but no rubber mats to keep feet dry when toweling off. Modern cheery bright rooms with full tile walls and floors. Overall still a good experience using both facilities Campsite B107 was a paved dry camp [no hookups] but potable water was close by. Best thing about government campgrounds is the sites are roomy, and private with wide grassy greenspaces between neighboring sites. Had nice shade trees all around to ward off summer heat, but still somewhat sunny Big Meadow is a great location for a base camp as you explore the park [its very large] to hike the many trails – including the Appalachian Trail which runs through it and be sure to visit the several visitors centers to gather more information of things to do. Don’t miss driving Skyline Drive taking advantage of pulling off the side of the road at the many overlooks and don’t miss the lodge. A camping trip to the Shenandoah is a perfect place to get away from the typical tourist traps laced with commercialism if you want to unwind turn off the phone and enjoy nature along with the peaceful solitude it has to offer.

Elkhorn Campground - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- OK for overnite stay – restrooms/showers unexpected nice surprise Most recent stay was overnight July 7th 2017 – I’m “late” in posting my review We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We did get close to the restroom/shower building – across the roadway from our site#12. The building was newly built with modern fixtures. Restrooms and showers are all in same large room separated by stalls with communal sink area in the open. Showers are full tiled floors and walls, with ample hooks and adjacent changing area with portable stool.in a private stall. Missing is a rubber floor mat as you exit the shower that would keep your feet off the wet floor. At the communal sink area, missing are convenience items like paper towels that could be used to help clean up after use – very messy and also need hooks between the mirrors for your hand towels and small shelves for your toiletries stuff. Over all the camp was well groomed and tidy, with all level sites, a sparkling swimming pool, mini golf, kid’s playground etc. Our site was a W&E only but the camp had a nice dump station adjacent to the restroom/shower building. The roadways are paved as are some sites, while others were gravel and grass mixed. There is some grass covered greenspace between sites, not as tight or crowded as a KOA for example, but still narrow. Some sites like ours were in the hot sun with no tress for shade, while others had ample shade. It rained heavy during our stay for about 2 hours and our site had poor drainage leaving muddy pools of standing water although the sun helped to dry it up somewhat. This was an overnight stay camp for us; for others it might a destination because of activities and the fishing in the river that backs the camp. Also City of Frankfort isn’t far away and there are things to do and places to visit if you’re planning a vacation in the area.

Little Beaver State Park Campground - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- A hidden gem off the beaten path – a little hard to get to but worth it Most recent stay was July 6th 2017 – I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. This was an overnight stop for us; a little difficult to reach due to hwy 307 off I-64 is very hilly with sharp curves but after reaching the park, it didn’t matter. Some grassy/graveled sites are scattered on a hillside, and a challenge to reach while others are lower down in the flat valley. The restroom/shower building is perched on top of the hill and not immediately adjacent to most accessible sites and ours was in the flat valley so not close to it as we would have liked. That being said, this was a government operated park with a typical building of painted cement block walls and cement floors albeit the building was newer and modern – it was nice. It was roomy inside with ample # of sinks and shower stalls. Each stall had rubber floor mat in the shower, but it have been better if they had been in the adjacent changing area when you exit shower. Water was hot and pressure good. Bench in changing area was nice convenience, but only 1 hook for towels and clothes so needed more. The communal sink area was spacious and had ample # of sinks – and a nice convenience was the paper towels so you could tidy up after using the sinks. Missing were hooks between the mirrors a convenience for your hand towel. The campground overall was well maintained and groomed with nice large and level sites on the flat valley covered with mixture of grass and gravel included water and electric with nice dump station as you exit the park.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park Campground - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- Base Camp near Historic Triangle Jamestown/Williamsburg/Yorktown Most recent stay was July 2nd thru July 5th 2017 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Yes we did get close to the restroom/shower building an older/dated facility showing its age, needing a little updating. Shower stall area had communal changing/drying off area with a long bench, plus hooks and cubby hole shelves for your stuff; all nice conveniences. Shower stalls were separated with a shower curtain, but a convenience item would be to add rubber floor mats to keep feet off wet floor during dry off time. Communal sink area was messy and also needed paper towels that could be used to wipe down area after each use, also needed hooks for hand towels and small shelves for toiletries This is a government operated park and over all the grounds was well groomed. Interior roadways were asphalt and sites were grass mixed with gravel. However, they were in need of maintenance like new asphalt to fill pot holes in roadway and gravel to cover dirt in sites. It rained during our stay and site was muddy and the roadway potholes filled with water [see my photos] All this resulted in unpleasant stay – questioned camp staff and was told work orders were submitted long ago but have been waiting for public officials to authorize funding and assign job to contractor.

Lake Fairfax Campgrounds - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Base Camp near Washington DC Most recent stay was June 27th thru July 1st 2017 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Our site 61 was close to restroom/shower building, a modern newer facility [typical government] with painted cement block walls and cement floor. Restrooms had separate entrance from showers which were large private individual rooms with a shower stall, toilet, and sink. This campground is operated and maintained by Fairfax County with a camp host on site. Cleaning of restroom/shower done every morning but appeared it was only a partial cleaning at best with hosing down the floors and maybe that’s all – see my photos – was like that all 5 days of our stay. The walls were high but open ceiling with exposed rafters – I suppose for improving ventilation, but it didn’t help much because there was no air movement; stuffy after the shower. Also drainage problem in all showers, leaving standing water on the floor after shower but there were no rubber mats to stand when toweling off and paper towels that could have been used to help clean up after using the sinks which remained messy. Our site W&E only was in hot sun – no shade trees – other sites had some shade but campground was fully reserved because of holiday (4th of July) and we couldn’t move. Was a good base camp for taking day trips exploring Washington DC. We learned how to navigate public transportation taking Metrorail at Wiehle Station in Reston [close by 10 min drive] to Union Station Washington DC city center. It's highly recommend instead of driving to DC in extremely heavy traffic and then good luck trying to find a parking lot.

Prophetstown State Park - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- Excellent State Park – 3rd visit now Most recent stay was June 6th 2017 – I’m “late” in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Liked our site #210, (electric only) was in newer section of park right next to restroom albeit it had no shade trees unlike the older section that did. Modern restroom/shower building; very roomy with ample # of stalls with full tiled walls was clean and well kept. Each stall had bench in changing area and ample hooks for towels and clothes. Nice conveniences but it would have been better if there were rubber floor mats as you exit shower to keep feet off wet floor. Communal sink area had shelves for toiletries beneath each mirror but no hooks for hand towels and no paper towels for cleanup after use leaving sinks somewhat messy. Overall grounds were well cared for; grassy areas surrounded sites that were large and flat with gravel and level and good distance way from neighboring sites. Minimal vegetation between sites for privacy but time will tell. This state park gets a high rating and will return when in the area.

Poole Knobs Campground - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- A real bargain for great campground run by Army Corps Engineers Most recent stay was June 5th 2017- I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Was impressed with our site #48 right on the lakes edge; large flat graveled site with good picnic table and firepit + 30 amp elec and water hookup with an onsite dump station when you exit the park. Lots of greenspace between sites no crowding and quite private. The park map give impression the restroom/shower building is nearby; however it was quite a hike up a hill on a trail behind site 53. We used the car the next time and the 2nd restroom across from site 72 – also up the hill. Restroom/shower was typical government style tiled floors and cement block painted walls; very clean with a bench and ample hooks in changing area adjacent to the shower stall + a soap dish in the shower stall. It would have been nice to have rubber floor mats as you exit shower to keep feet out of standing water when drying off and paper towels to clean up sink area which was messy after usage. Hot air dryers worked ok for your hands but that was about it. The restrooms are not well placed/located within the park, but overall the park was a good experience.

Sun Outdoors St. Augustine - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- Wasn’t Impressed Most recent stay was 05-24-17 thru 05-25-17 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area We did get close to the restroom/showers as requested; they were clean and tidy and ok - checkout my photos. Wish they had paper towels for use to clean up area around the sinks - very messy and no shelves or hooks nearby to hang towels or your stuff. Showers had floor mats when you dried off; a + so you didn't have to stand on wet floor; hooks for your towels and clothes, so overall good. Not impressed with our site #3 maybe cuz we were in the "outdated" section of the grounds. The grounds were in need of cosmetic fix up although owner comments reveal they are building a new swim pool and new bathhouse. It rained and our site had no gravel to absorb water. Instead the covering was a white crushed seashell type mixture that stuck to the bottom of your shoes and you constantly dragged it in the RV; even had a camper mat outside but it didn't help much; terrible old picnic table. It just wasn’t a pleasing atmosphere albeit the site was spacious and wide. I would still not return but find an alternative next time or ask about the newer renovated section of the park.

Ambassador RV Resort - My Rating is 5 out of 5 -- High-End Park ~ Manicured & Immaculate Most recent stay was 8/05/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Our site was across the road from the restroom/shower/laundry building and one word ~ immaculate ~ describes them all. Their facilities deserve a 5 star, very clean, very modern, and laid out in large unisex individual & private “home bathroom” style rooms each with a sink/vanity w/mirror, toilet, shower stall, bench, shelf for your stuff, hooks for your clothes and paper towels to clean up area after use + a bonus towel bath mat for your feet as you exit the shower. Cooled by AC in summer months and heated during cooler months. Rest of facilities also a 5 star paved interior roads, all graveled (level) site pads all pull through w/extension concrete patio, & picnic table w/moderate spacing between other sites. FHU w/cable and in-ground irrigation sprinklers, and of course a sparkling clean swimming pool + laundry room. All this for extremely reasonable price $34.00 w/Good Sam Discount – believe me you will pay much more for much less at other parks. Be aware this is definitely a Big Rig RV Park ~ not a campground [believe no tents allowed and could not set up our dinning canopy over picnic table] but it can accommodate little rigs like us too. Only a couple of trees sparsely spaced around property most all sites have no shade so hot sun beats down on you ~ you’ll appreciate your awning here.

The Longhorn Ranch Lodge and RV - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Restroom/showers an unexpected nice surprise Most recent stay was 8/02/16 / 8/03/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area We were across the road from the restroom/shower building, which was set up with 12 unisex private rooms each with shower, sink, and toilet ~ Like your bathroom at home! ~ All rooms have tiled floors, knotty pine walls, good ventilation with modern updated fixtures. Very clean and well taken care of [saw them cleaned twice per day morning and evening] only wish they had more hooks for your towel and clothes, a bench would have been nice, and rubber floor mat for wet feet when you exit the shower~ add all that and it gets a 5 star. Campground itself is rustic [we’re in Wyoming and is expected] w/gravel interior roads and level site pads w/ a picnic table and fire ring among the trees for needed shade and sparse grassy areas except nice grassy area for tenters next to creek. Some cabins for rent, plus a small motel. No swimming pool or onsite activities from children. It’s called a resort, but really is a nice RV Park and campground that is close to small quaint western style town [Dubois] w/good restaurants and shopping. It could be a base camp – at lower rates – for the Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Wy recreation area; be prepared for at least 1 ½ - 2 hour travel time.

Buffalo KOA - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Unexpected nice ~ don’t pass this one by Most recent stay was 7/31/16 / 8/01/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Journey version ~ not your typical KOA [much better]. Off the interstate so it was quiet no road noise at all. 1 of the better KOA’s we’ve stayed at ~ we were directly across from restroom/shower/laundry building. Very impressed w/restroom-showers. Very clean and updated w/modern fixtures. Showers had rubber mats when you exit the stall & were in a separate private room w/small bench in changing-dressing area. Only CON was bench very narrow [small] becuz inside area of room too compact plus no hooks and shelves in shower and in communal sink area for your clothes-towels-& stuff all necessities that a camper needs Campground itself very tidy, neat, and maintained. All roads and site pads have gravel, but no potholes and all level. Sites are wider/larger than most KOA’s we’ve stayed at w/good shade at most sites, plus some upgraded sites have cement patios w/BBQ grill and outdoor patio furniture easily accommodates the big rigs. Sparkling clean swimming pool, cabins for rent, separate tent area on the grass and under shade trees.

Mirror Lake State Park Campground - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Perfect base camp for Wi Dells and Baraboo Rec Areas Most recent stay was 7/17/16 thru 7/22/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review The layout of the campground is such that the restroom/shower buildings are easily accessible from your campsite, but not immediately adjacent. One restroom/shower building serves about 15 campsites. They have 2 each 2 shower stalls, sinks, and toilets. Push button/auto shut off showers so- you gotta keep pushing to get more water. We’ve camped here 8 seasons now [family reunion getaway occupying 7 sites] and sad this this year they removed the paper towels [only air dryers] as we used them to clean up our area around the sinks when done. Now they stay messy longer as they’re cleaned only once per day. Each stall is private with locking door and large enough to use to dry off. There is 1 hook on the inside of door but now where else [wish there were more] also there is a long bench just outside of the shower stalls which is handy but no shelves for your stuff. Reasonably priced park considering it’s near the tourist vacation destination area.. All campsites have gravel pads but the interior roadways are paved. Sites are very roomy with lots of vegetation between sites for privacy and all among many trees for welcomed shade during hot summer months. Some sites are dry camp others are electric only no sewer hookups, but there is a dump and potable water fill station near park entrance. Also water spigots are in every loop and is no problem getting water. Lot’s to do all around and Wi Dells is only minutes away – Google Wisconsin Dells and you’ll see it truly is a vacation destination – boasts to have more waterslide parks than anywhere else in the USA.

Camp Turkeyville RV Resort - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- NOT a resort but nice rv park for a restful stop Most recent stay was 07/13/16 & 07/14/16 (I ‘m late in posting my review) . . . We camp in a Little Rig “Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We did get close to restroom/shower [2nd row] but had to walk thru other sites to get there ~ no pathway through ~ the walk around to end of row was not convenient. This is a newer park built 2011 so everything is updated, modern, and nice. Shower/restroom building (only one) is also shared by pool guests – showers in separate rooms and private wing are very large surrounded by tall concrete walls. Each have a small bench and 2 wall hooks, but no shelves for your stuff except for wire shelf in shower for soap and shampoo ~ thank goodness for that. Rubber mats on floor but spray from shower soaks the floor. No ventilation – thought odd for new building. ~ Restrooms in separate area wing are communal – very roomy w/5 sinks and modern. But no paper towels for camper to use for clean up after use, only air dryers for hands and again no hooks or shelves for your stuff. Of course new washer/dryers ~ very nice area to do your clothes New campground all gravel roadways and pads [a few concrete] lots of grassy area but no trees – only a couple of young ones totally out in open under hot sun no shade anywhere [they need to plant lots more trees] nice swimming pool though to help cool off. All sites are well spaced far apart for privacy – not squeezed together – each with picnic table and fire ring. Wanted to use our patio mat on the grass and gravel adjacent to our rv but camp management would not allow it – upsetting.

Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- 1st impression driving into park says nice! Most recent stay was 07/10//16 & 07/11/16 (I ‘m late in posting my review) . . Park has 2 restroom/shower buildings – PROS and CONS of each. CONS: We camped close to very old outdated restroom/shower building. While set up unisex style with private separate toilet/sink/shower rooms, all were dismal not cheery looking in need of some TLC w/new fixtures and updating,.Rooms were sized ok, but had poor ventilation and steamed up quickly and no way to escape the air but open the door, then you’re exposed. Showers were very small/tight w/little room to move around. Rubber mats helps to absorb the water on the floor – but still wear your clogs. PROS: is the shelves and hooks for your stuff plus a small stool for sitting [all thoughtful convenience necessities for campers] Also the newer shower/restroom building located adjacent to the pool near the entrance of the grounds is very nice All unisex rooms set up the same way but larger, more modern bright and clean. Nice if some day they tear down old building and replace with copy of newer building as described. We camped at the back end of the campground on the grass and among the trees, which was very nice roomy and quiet. No issues there at all – nice area for big rvs down to tents. Campground layout was good w/pool, good condition gavel interior roads, cabins for rent, permanent and seasonal sites too – all well kept and neat looking. Appearance of grounds get best rating shows management cares. ,

Southwoods RV Resort - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Not actually a resort but a darn nice rv park/campground Most recent stay was 07/07/16 thru 07/10/16 (I ‘m late in posting my review) . . So the PROS of the restroom/shower/laundry building We DID get close ~ just across the roadway. They’re nice and clean and bright – somewhat updated w/tiled floors and private fiberglass shower stalls w’/ changing area. Communal sink area also nice; not crowded and they have paper towels for campers to clean up area after use . . . and they do!. And the CONS: The shower stalls w/changing area very small [can hardly move about to dry off]. No rubber mats on floor that are soppy wet so you’re standing in dirty water trying to dry off No bench to sit but (1) folding chair to share with 3 stalls and if you use it, there’s no room to move – only 1 hook and no shelves same at communal sink very inconvenient Overall the entire park itself is very accommodating w/large roomy sites [some shady] each with picnic table and fire ring. We were in the “open grass field area” [no shade however] that made a big circle around the amphitheater/stage building – it was nice. Roads are gravel as are the sites, fairly level. There are 2 pools, mini-golf, volley ball nets, playground, and community area within a few miles of the thru-way yet very peaceful and quiet setting.

Pine Creek Campground - My Rating is 2 out of 5 -- Park OK – Restroom/showers terrible bad need of TLC Most recent stay was 07/03/16 thru 07/06/16 /16 (I ‘m late in posting my review) . . 1st we were close to restroom/shower/laundry building [if you want to call it that ~ and reason for 2-star rating] best they tear it down and start over – just terrible. Well below expected standards ~ owners / managers should use the facility for a true experience instead of their own bathroom, which I doubt looks like this. In addition to the overall poor condition there is no privacy ~ a communal changing area ~ but 2 good things, it had a couple of hooks and rubber floor mats outside the old and run down fiberglass stalls. The shower curtains were older and in need of replacement but no shelves, or bench for your stuff. The communal sink area was just as bad ~ was one of the worst we’ve experienced after 3 years and 60,000 miles of travels camping all over the country. We were in the section nearest the playground. We camped 4 days as a base camp for finger lakes region and never saw anyone clean them ~ same cigarette butts and trash on the floor we saw when we arrived and when we left. Note of interest ~ there is another restroom/shower facility adjacent to the pool near the park entrance which was also old and outdated but in much better shape than the one just described ~ we used it instead although it was a long distance from our site. Overall the campground itself is pretty nice regardless that the interior roads were gravel and site were grass/gravel mixed; not a negative at all.. All sites had a picnic table + fire ring, they were fairly level, large and good space between other sites not squeezed together; there were some permanent seasonal sites but they were all well-kept and not trashy. Some cabins on site for rent plus large grassy areas among mature trees for shade great for tenters ~ and there was a nice swimming pool.

Swan Bay RV Resort -1000 Islands Premier RV Park & Marina - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- A Brand New High End RV Park Most recent stay was 07/02/16 (I ‘m late in posting my review) and 1st impression is WOW! We were close to restroom/shower building but was disappointed with layout for a brand new park; only 1 shower stall designed, sized and outfitted for ADA and there was a waiting line to use it. Of course all modern fixtures fiberglass shower stall, tiled floors, fresh painted walls, granite sink counter top etc. Roomy changing area with a bench for seating and rubber floor mat for feet when exit shower. No hooks or shelves for your stuff – none either at community sink area but did have paper towels to help clean up area after use. This definitely is an RV Park – not a campground ~ did not see any tents or dinning canopies. Very new facility just completed 2nd restroom/shower facility at back of park ~ asphalt roadways, cement sidewalks and rv pads; young baby trees so no shade[yet] w/all FUH sites. Lots of space between sites not crowded at all – overall park is well planned and laid out; can handle any size rig w/o problems. Regardless of all the positives – this it is still very expensive $88.00 night and we won’t be back because of price ~ actually overpriced when comparing others and really out of our price range.

Juniper Park Campground - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- A Hidden Gem for a County Campground Most recent stay was 8/04/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Overall this park has nice facilities; 3 loops with paved roads and sites which are very nicely spaced-out and mixed together with grass & juniper bushes. It has flush toilets and spacious showers in every loop. The showers have dated and annoying spray heads but decent water pressure w/hot water and a bench in changing area. All are kept clean. No dump station however, and no hooks or shelves in shower stalls or community sink area – air dryers only no paper towels for you to clean up the sinks after use. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring with lots of room between them and all sit on top of relatively flat plateau above the reservoir. some sites have very little shade (the juniper bushes provide spots of low-lying shade for the sitting area), but limited shade for the RV & it can get very hot in summer. Many sites have full hookups (either 30 or 50 amp/water/sewer), plus prices are outstanding. Overnight Camping Fees: $10.00 tent area and dry dock camping (only $18 for FHU!). ($2.00 discount for Idaho State Parks and Recreation Golden Age pass holders) Most sites have no view of the water except for sites 10,12,14 This park is way out there near the Juniper Dam Recreation Area; very quiet, about 20 mi from Idaho Falls where you can shop for groceries and eat at restaurants.

Holland State Park Campground - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- Not Ideal – just an OK stay overnight Most recent stay was 6/30/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig “Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We were close to restroom/shower building which were ok and typical of state park. No hooks or shelves for your stuff but shower stalls were separate private rooms accessed from outside separate door (unisex style) all tiled walls w/small bench but no rubber mats on floor (wear your clogs). Access to toilets and community sink area through separate door. Area was very messy and dirty – didn’t have hooks or shelves for your stuff – no paper towels for visitors use to clean up after themselves – only air dryer and probably reason for it being messy – not a pleasant experience . . Park was very crowded during our stay; sites very close together/cramped very minimal privacy between sites not typical of state park. Gravel site pads fairly level asphalt interior roads. Disclaimer: As I write this review it occurred to me that there might be 2 sections (old & new) and most likely we were in older section sites 117 thru 172 [Woodstock loop]? I Believe the Pine Loop Sites 001 thru 116 might be larger w/more privacy not squeezed and restroom/showers were more modern.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- BIG RIG RV PARK little rigs ok Most recent stay was 05-05-16 [I’m late with submitting my review] ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Lots of pictures already of general RV Park + the sites, so I’ll focus on the restroom. PROS there is a solid picnic table at your site to use. Facility is newer and modern and all sites level with full hookups. Restroom/shower/laundry fully tiled floors and walls and up to date, with roomy private shower stalls + includes separate changing area with wall mounted bench and plenty of wall hooks for your stuff. Hot water and good pressure. Sink/vanity area is roomy and also modern. Convenient to Grand Canyon National Park and close to town for shopping needs. CONS narrow “green-belt” strip between sites with no privacy. Strip too narrow, could not set up our dinning fly over the picnic table, no place to anchor tie down straps to keep it up (very windy during our stay), and could not cook outdoors with camp stove. Faucets at sink/vanity area are automatic push button with slow no low pressure spray similar to what you might find in restaurant restroom, not convenient for normal bathroom use. No wall hooks or wall shelves for your stuff – gotta place on floor top of vanity which can be wet and messy. Glad they had paper towels for that.

Emigrant Lake County Park - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Most recent stay was 04/05/2016 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. All PROS - no CONS, just a perfect setting for a public campground without the crowding and commercialism of the private campgrounds you normally find at the privates. The best thing is, this Jackson County public facility has full hookups, asphalt pads, sturdy well maintained picnic tables with fire ring + a newer more modern bathhouse with hot showers that are full on ceramic tiled walls ~ individual private rooms with locking doors. There is a soap dish, hooks for your stuff and a bench in each room ~ wear your clogs. You have to enter another door in same building for the restrooms and sinks [wish they had hooks and shelves in there for your stuff]. The grounds are kept neat and tidy ~and~ you have a view of the lake from every site. Best campsites are in "The Point" campground #'s 12 thru 20 are excellent, but really there's no "bad" site. Also - registered campers do NOT pay the $4.00 entrance fee ~ it's included with your stay. Wish they had better signage directing you to "The Point" ~ as you enter the main part of the park, there IS a sign with an arrow, but it does not direct you to “the Point” it’s for a different campground in the park; you have to continue straight on the main road to reach "The Point". When / if traveling through southern Oregon, we wouldn't hesitate to stop here again ~ but strongly suggest making a reservation as it's quite popular.

SacWest RV Park & Campground - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- It's not a KOA anymore ~ Correct name is SACWEST RV Park. Most recent stay was 04/26/2016 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Evidence this was once KOA; with A-Frame shape of office building and sites all crammed close together with about a 4’ strip of grass between barely room for the small picnic table. It’s an older park – we got lucky close to restroom with an asphalt pad while many others were on gravel - didn’t need any blocks to level. Older shower / restroom facility but kept clean – looking at gallery of pictures on their web site, appears they “spruced up” the restroom/shower facility since we stayed their. I included our pictures and notice the apparent improved difference. Still don’t know if they have the older fixtures and my comments were to improve by doing some painting and upgrading the fixtures, replacing the rubber floor mats, in and outside of shower stalls, adding conveniences of hooks and shelving for your stuff. The stalls are very tight 3’, I think, and changing area same that includes a small stool. Sink and vanity area is roomy, but again no hooks or shelves to hold your stuff. Also appears they improved overall appearance of the park with added gravel and sprucing up - Park is in industrial area along side of freeway, but sound barrier wall kept noise at bay – newer shopping center complex close by [approx 3 mi] with Wal-Mart and Home Depot as anchor stores with many others.

A Country RV Park - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- 1st impression says WOW! Most recent stay was 4-27-16 [I’m late in writing my review. All large wide concrete pads with non-moveable picnic table for (2) only 2 [very tiny] along with cable tv full hook ups – definitely a Big Boys RV Park. We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long and we looked dwarfed next to the big boys. Our little rig rv is w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Got a spot 3 sites from restrooms all heated which were very nice with tiled walls and floors; appearing to newer – maybe last 10 years or so with 2 large stalls ~ sink vanity area is roomy giving entire facility a 5-star rating. Sure would have been nice and more convenient if it had shelves and hooks in shower and sink area for your stuff. CONS: Picnic table too small and not movable – need grassy strip between sites so we could set up our dinning fly – didn’t see any tents set up – not a recreational park no activities PROS: Excellent restrooms – large cement pads – sparkling pool - park with locking gate at night after 7:00 access with code – great for big rigs and perfect overnight stop for little RV’s like us

Cottonwood Campground (CA) - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Unforgettable dry camping experience Most recent stay 4-28-16 [I’m late on writing my review] ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. However – this is a National Campground w/o the amenities of other private or some state campgrounds ~ BUT they do have a water fill / dump station on site and restroom with flush toilets and sinks [no hot water no electricity] that being said we still loved the true “camping” experience. Ran on battery power and propane for cooking and frig. Excellent large site with asphalt pad, sturdy picnic table, water spigot 50’ away and roomy site with green-way between and not close or tight against any of neighbor sites. Had plenty of room for our dinning fly shelter ~ could have added a tent even with our rv - campground is located at most southern end of park ~ 1st come 1st served and we had no problem selecting site ~ take 45 min to drive through park to reach other “attractions” and campgrounds of the most popular “northern” end. Lot’s of pull out and points of interest along the way, you won’t miss a thing. About a 15-degree temp change difference between south and north – warmer on the south end. Best to camp during spring or fall – summertime it can get very hot. Pitch black at night – you’ll be amazed at how many stars you can see – absolutely a sight to behold. The peace the absolute quiet was incredible.

OK RV Park - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- OLD 50’s era RV Park Most recent stay 5-04-16 [I’m late on writing my review] ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. This is a Big Rig type RV park on gravel parking lot with full hookups and broken/cracked asphalt patio with picnic table. Got site close to shower / restroom building however it’s ugly – old – outdated – in sore need of some TLC and upgrading. (There’s a Home Depot 50 mi away in Show Low AZ) A good thing is the showers are generous size, have good pressure and lots of hot water and a door on each stall that affords full privacy and were very clean and didn’t smell. The sites are the longest I've ever seen. All pull thru and probably 80-90 feet long. Parking-lot style side by side on gravel, but they are set up so that RV’s alternate so you really aren't right next to anyone. There are about six different sewer connections per site ~ really ~ and the electric, water, and cable is located toward the rear of the sites. All worked well. Great for overnight stay in big rig motor home 5th wheel or travel trailer, but not so great for pop up trailer, tear drop trailer, and definitely not for a tent. Overall the place was very clean. Desert setting so no grass, still I consider this as base camp for visiting the Petrified Forest National Park and whatever else you want to see in the area, but disagree with Good Sam 9-star rating for restrooms ~ 9 star really? ~ how’s that possible? It’s downright misleading

Tonopah Station RV Park - My Rating is 1 out of 5 -- RV Park Bear Bones Basics No Frills 1st off we agree with the review posted 4 years ago ~ nothing has changed or improved since then. Our most recent stay was 05-11-16 [I’m late with submitting my review] ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Well we DID get fairly close to the restrooms so that was good, but that’s about it. Like previous reviews, there are full hookups in the parking lot behind the casino – no picnic table but there is a big trash barrel. Don’t recommend hauling out the lawn chairs and of course no green-way between other RV’s which are sandwiched together. The restrooms/showers are adjacent to the loading dock; they have private locked doors unisex style (2) only. Older setup – 50’s era but they’re roomy and water is hot with good pressure, and all in 1 single room like a being at home – so so on the cleanliness but they didn’t smell; wear your clogs. Summary ~ definitely a 1 nighter when in desperation and need a place to stay like a Wal-Mart parking lot, except you DO have access to a shower facility but unlike Wal-Mart ya gotta pay a nightly fee for to stay.

Sparks Marina RV Park - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- If you want nice this is it~Modern RV Park Most recent stay was 05-12-2016 (I’m late on my reviews) We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We did get close to restroom/shower roomy very clean and modern w/full on tiled walls and floors w/secure private stalls and changing area. Lots of hooks for stuff, padded bench folds against wall in changing area. Good water pressure and hot. High ratings well deserved for modern restrooms & facilities, paved roadways, and all level paved sites which do not crowd your neighbor. Large pull through spaces, nice LEVEL picnic table with metal plate on 1 end for camp stove CONS – did not like Astro turf could not set up out dining canopy over table. Sewer connect w/concrete surround encroaches neighbor site Definitely a Big Rig park, but ok for little rig overnight stay and not suitable for tents. Wish they had rubber floor mats as you exit shower + shelves in changing area and hooks/ shelves at sink/vanity area

Premier RV Resorts - My Rating is 4 out of 5 -- Nice RV Park + Campground yes – RV Resort no Most recent stay was 05-13-2016 (I’m late on my reviews) We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table & set up our dining canopy for sun/ weather protection so we rely on condition of campgrounds facilities being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We were in the older section of park across bridge but still very neat and tidy. Obvious upgrades and remodel done with pedestal sinks and nice secure /private tiled showers/fiberglass stalls that were not cramped + changing area w/nice corner bench. Extra nice touch was rubber floor mats when you exit shower, + shelves w/hooks for all your stuff / same as at the sink area – wish all parks would have these. Paved roads, cement pads, good space between sites w/vegetation green-space that included picnic table w/plenty mature shade trees. Newer section is in back of property on office side of river – boasts a separate building with modern clubhouse/private restroom/showers + a laundry. Also larger big rig rv sites + 3 yurts and 1 cabin that can be rented if you don’t have an tent or rv . There’s a pool and small playground. Overall a nice RV park/campground CONS: Just 1 – our picnic table was too small w/narrow table top – only for 2 people

Twin Rivers Vacation Park - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- Shady park 5 miles off I-5 – Roseburg So Oregon Wine Country Most recent stay was 05-1-2016 (I’m late on my reviews) We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table & set up our dining canopy for sun/ weather protection so we rely on condition of campgrounds facilities being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Locking gate for security, paved roadways, lots of shade trees, large level grassy sites with gravel for the rv and cement patio with picnic table – not crowded at all. The seclusion is nice away from noise of city and the interstate – older park 50’s era with some monthly full timers scattered about but still everything is neat and well kept. Got a site close to restroom/showers which is in a cement block building; they were very clean although old and outdated from the fixtures/sinks, vanity, toilet, & shower stalls and reason for 3 star rating. A trip to local Home Depot would do wonders for the place. The shower area is large and includes private dressing area in each stall, including a rubber mat when you step out of the fiberglass shower, with hooks for towels and clothes, a shelf, and a corner bench – perfect set up. Wish they had hooks and shelves at community sink area a convenience necessity that many campgrounds seem to ignore. Older washers / dryers that work.

Tumalo State Park Campground - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- If you want nice, this is it; a camper’s campground among the pine trees It was full during our stay – highly recommend advanced reservations; very popular for access to Sisters, Redmond, Bend in high desert of Central Oregon. We’ve camped here regularly over several years and never disappointed Most recent stay was 6/13/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We did get close to restroom/hot shower building w/dishwashing station – this campground is well laid out with restrooms placed in middle of loops and sites circle all around for easy access. Showers are unisex private individual rooms + changing area with lockable door. Showers were clean full on tiled walls and floors w/hooks + shelves for your stuff and wall bench for seating. Not cramped at all and good water pressure and spray. Community restrooms and sinks are in another part of building. Just awesome park for smaller RV’s up to 35’?, and tents with sturdy picnic table + fire pit + paved roadways + asphalt RV pads. Both full hook-ups and dry-camp. Some sites could be problem for the Big Rigs be sure to check site lengths. Only CON: No rv dump or potable water fill station. Find one at Creekside Municipal Campground in Sisters for a small fee $10.00

Mountain Home RV Park - My Rating is 5 out of 5 -- Don’t pass this one by! Most recent stay was 6/14/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We are return guests ~ several times; it’s one of the nicest rv parks on all of I-84 – but it’s not a campground believe they do not allow tents. Their restroom/shower/laundry facilities deserve a 5 star, very clean, very modern, and laid out in roomy 9x10 individual & private “home bathroom” style rooms each with a sink, toilet, shower stall, bench, shelf for your stuff, hooks for your clothes and towel, + a bonus towel bath mat for your feet as you exit the shower. Cooled by AC in summer months and heated during cooler months. Rest of facilities also a 5 star paved interior roads, paved (level) site pads all pull through w/extension patio, picnic table, young shade trees, large lush grassy green-space between other sites, w/privacy fence between, full hookups w/cable and in-ground irrigation sprinklers, and of course a sparkling clean swimming pool. All this for extremely reasonable price w/Good Sam Discount – believe me you’d pay much more for much less at other parks.

Lyman KOA - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- No road noise from I-80 a rarity for a KOA Most recent stay was 6/16/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig “Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. We’re right across the road from the restroom/showers. It’s an older 50’s type facility clean & neat. Shower stalls are private with glass doors and very tight 3x3 I think – so is the adjacent changing area with a little stool/bench for seating, plus rubber floor mat for feet as you exit shower; includes a couple of hooks, but would like to see shelves added for your stuff. Also need hooks and shelves at the shared sink/vanity area. Updating the place including new fixtures would do wonders. This is Wyoming after all and is more of a campground, not an RV Park per se. Gravel roadways and somewhat roomy, level mixed gravel & grass site pads with picnic table; large pull through site can accommodate Big Rigs. Some staggered back to back ~ back in sites; grounds include rental cabins and clean swimming pool, and tent sites all on flat ground. We’ve been here 4 time now ~ and will be back

BEYONDER Getaway at Sleepy Hollow - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- “Easy access off I-80 east from and west to home in Oregon” Most recent stay was 6/30/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. It is a favorite overnight stop on I-80 E & W between OR and WI ~we’ve been here several times, BUT it’s an older campground in need of some TLC ~ especially gravel roadway @ entrance (office) that goes down the hill to the interior roads which are full of ruts ~ all they need is some new gravel. [the inner gravel roads are fine] Then there's the restroom/showers; a trip to local Home Depot in Iowa City for some paint, updated fixtures, new shower mats for the floor, new shower curtains, add hooks and shelving in the sink/vanity area for your things, and add paper towels that most campers would use to "clean up" (wipe down) their sink area after their use, but w/o them there's no way to do it and that area gets messy (they do clean the restrooms) . . .but still; and we give them credit because the grounds keeper is on site keeping things around camp tidy There is little air movement inside even though there is a large fan/blower at the one end; it's not effective making it "stuffy" inside. So for all my suggested remarks my rating is a 3 . . . because it's all related to improving conveniences since the rest of the park is very functional. Yes it's true some sites are on a small hill making leveling inconvenient, but you can always ask to move; after all this IS a campground and not billed as a 5 star resort with cement pads and patio's . . .after all. There’s lots of grass and shady trees so campers with all amenities in their RV’s would love it here. We will be back again and again and would upgrade our rate to a 5 star if they made the simple improvements.

Laramie RV Resort by Rjourney - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- Narrow sites & I-80 traffic road noise Most recent stay was 6/16/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig “Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Did get close to restroom/showers ~ right across the road. PROS: Restroom/showers are newer modern look w/full on tiled walls/floors. Good water pressure & hot. Shower stalls are private combined w/changing area a little small but still ok in size w/bench for seating and hooks for clothes/towel. Appreciate the paper towels for clean-up of area after use, some campgrounds have only air dryers. CONS: need rubber floor mat in changing area when exiting shower, a small shelf would be nice for your stuff/ need hooks and shelves at shared sink area all for conveniences that many campgrounds forget. CONS: all sites are narrow and close together / tight and narrow greenspace barley enough room to use the picnic table / packed in like a can of sardines forget about any reasonable privacy and of course the constant traffic road noise from I-80 is ongoing all night long so typical of many KOA’s. Never could understand why they want to build them so close and in view of the interstate

Grand Island KOA - My Rating is 3 out of 5 -- 2 mi off I-80 NO traffic noise HOORAY Most recent stay was 6/17/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig “Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. 1st impression this is nice – a welcomed site after hours on the road next to cornfield with sites amongst the trees for shade & green grass. But then close up this is a typical KOA with very narrow close together sites packed together like a can of sardines RV park style with gravel pads and roadways. We had a picnic table but strip of grass was very narrow sandwiched between neighbor RV’s. There are many cabins for rent and a nice separate grassy area for tenter’s; all close to the restroom/showers ~ as were we. So placement of that building was ideally situated. Nice swimming pool area plus overall the grounds are clean and well maintained it shows they care. The building held 6 individual unisex restroom/shower rooms. Down the hall on one side were 3 ea private shower rooms, opposite side were 3 ea private restrooms with a toilet and sink. At one end was an ADA shower/restroom combined. All were modern and clean. Shower rooms had hooks for clothes/towels, wall bench, and rubber floor mat for wet feet. Missing was a shelf for your toiletries stuff. Only NEGATIVE was Lack Of Adequate Ventilation; nonexistent and it got very stuffy in there. Trying to towel off dry was a joke! If you open the door a crack to get air, you’re exposed to next person in hallway waiting in line. Restrooms had paper towels so you could clean up your area after and a shelf for toiletries – very thoughtful, but no hooks for towel and clothes. Same ventilation problem. Note: there is a 2nd restroom/shower facility connected to the office
